Groups & multiple angles
A group bundles several captures of the same item so they stay together — for example, four angles of a television, plus a close-up of its serial number.
This is the single most helpful habit for the team that builds the inventory later: instead of a loose pile of photos, they get neat sets, one per item.
When to use a group
Use a group whenever you're documenting one item from multiple angles or with a detail shot:
- A TV: front, back, sides, model/serial close-up.
- A damaged sofa: full view + close-ups of the damage.
- An appliance: overall + label + any receipts.
For a single wide shot of a wall or a room, you don't need a group — just capture.
Create a group and add to it
- In a room, tap New group.
- Name it for the item — "TV", "Dining table", "Item 17".
- Capture as usual; every shot goes into the group.
- Tap Done when you've covered the item, then start the next group.
You can also pick an existing group before capturing to add more angles later, or move an existing photo into a group from the photo's menu.
TIP
A fast field rhythm: new group → walk around the item → 3–5 angles + one detail → done → next item. Consistent, quick, and a gift to the inventory team.
Group details
Your admin may attach item fields to groups — like Description, Condition, or Estimated value. Fill these in on the group's Details tab while you're looking at the item. See Loss & item details.
Tags vs. groups
- A group = the same physical item, multiple captures.
- A tag = a label you can apply across many items or rooms ("electronics", "high-value", "needs follow-up").
Use both together when it helps.
